Part 1 of 3: Commissioning a Brooks Instrument SLA Series EtherNet/IP™-enabled MFC Using Rockwell Studio 5000

4/25/2019

You have your EtherNet/IP™-enabled SLA5800 or SLAMf device(s) in hand and ready to go. Before you can start communicating with your device on the network, you will need to download the EDS files from the Brooks Instrument website. EDS files are simple text files used by network configuration tools to help you identify products and easily commission them on a network.

  1. Have your BrooksInstrument.com login ID and password handy, and visit this page to download.
  2. Once you have logged in, click the green download button below EtherNet/IP™ EDS Files SLA5800 Series.
  3. Now that you have the EDS files downloaded, launch the Rockwell Studio 5000 program and open a new project.
  4. From there, click on the EDS Hardware Installation from the Tool menu to load the files. This will open the EDS Installation Wizard and simply follow the on-screen steps to add your already-downloaded files.

That’s it! You have completed the first steps in commissioning your Brooks Instrument SLA Series MFC using Rockwell Studio 5000. Our Technical Services team has created a video for you to follow along step by step that can be viewed below. To view in full screen mode, simply click the YouTube icon after pressing play, and to continue viewing parts 2 and 3 of the series.

Ready for our next video tutorial? We'll walk you through step two of the commissioning process – adding a device to the network. View it here and as always, contact our Technical Services team for local support wherever you are around the globe.
