It All Starts With Asking Questions

I am a learner. In fact, I have a voracious appetite for learning. Learning helps me grow and, ideally, make better decisions professionally and personally than I did yesterday. It All Starts With Asking Questions

Recently joining the Brooks team has been a major learning and growth experience for me. There’s so much to absorb about each of you, the complex work you and your companies engage in, the challenges facing your respective industries, how you make buying decisions, and what you expect and want in a supplier.

One of the many ways I learn is by asking questions, and people tell me I ask good questions – questions that make them ask, “Why am I doing it this way?” For me, asking questions and engaging others in a dialogue helps me understand concepts, make new connections and relate to them. It exposes me to their knowledge, wisdom and opinions, and it provides insight into how they think. It helps me put myself in their shoes to communicate in a way that resonates.

I believe this is fundamental to being an effective marketer. Marketing encompasses every aspect of a business, but one of my simple yet favorite definitions goes like this:

“Marketing is the process of creating then communicating value to your prospects and customers.”

So, as I continue learning and getting up to speed in the coming months, the greatest value I can offer you is an invitation – to help me learn about you.
